Newsletter May 2009

1. At the General Meeting of IML,  a cooperation agreement was signed between IML and IVV.

Part of the agreement enables an IML walker participating in the “IVV Olympiade” from 14 till 17 May 2009 to receive an IML stamp and a bar on completion of the walk in accordance with IML rules.

2. The General Meeting agreed that IML will apply for membership of “TAFISA” - An international sport for all organization. (website www.tafisa.net)

3. Bern (Belpe) in Switzerland was confirmed by the General Meeting as a founder member of IML. This means that a walker has to complete the 8 founding member walks to become an “International Master Walker”.

4. IML event organisers are required to improve administration by stricter control of the award system.

Participating IML Walkers should be aware that:

- an IML stamp may be refused by the organiser if the IML passport does not contain the walkers photograph and proof of identity confirmed by an official document.

- Official IML stamps are for use in IML passport only. IML Stamps are NOT to be used on any other documents.

5. There was no decision agreed about distance awards for children and elderly walkers. This item is postponed for further discussion at the next General Meeting.

6. It was agreed at the General Meeting that it is now possible to replace a lost or damaged IML passport by providing required proof to the Secretary General.

Other IML products such as medals, bars, etc... can be replaced if proof of participation at that walking event is provided.

Administrative expenses will be charged.
